Time Began in a Garden

Today was a beautiful sun-kissed day in NYC. It seemed like the perfect day for me to venture in and out of garden shops in search of a plant - one that I could, hopefully, keep alive.

I have never had much luck growing plants - and believe me, I have tried. In the past, I have managed to kill everything from a normal houseplant, to garden herbs, cacti and even bamboo (bet you didn't think killing the last two was even possible) Suffice to say - green thumb, I have not.

I opted to buy three African Violets. Prior to purchasing, I did a little research on plants that are fairly easy to keep alive. There is a good amount of sunlight that comes in the apartment - and I needed something that could sustain on its own if I forgot to water it for a week.

So, technically, if I kill one of these - I still managed to keep two alive ... right?

A child said What is the grass? fetching it to me with full
           hands;
How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any
           more than he.
I guess it must be the flag of my disposition, out of hopeful
           green stuff woven.
